Kasey Olivier


With Kasey, there is no second place in litigation. Her secret to success is her ability to look at problems from 100 feet above and not from the ground up. When she does that, she sees the big picture and the goals of her clients and the opposing side. Kasey’s creative approach to litigation has landed her on the list of the Top 40 under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers,  a Rising Star by Super Lawyers, and voted a Top 10 female personal injury attorney in client satisfaction. Kasey served as the 2020-2021 South Dakota Trial Lawyers’ President and was recently honored by the City of Sioux Falls with the Arc of Dreams Community Dreamer award, which honors leaders in our community.

Kasey has demonstrated her success in the most sophisticated plaintiffs’ litigation cases against the toughest adversaries, ranging in cases from complex business litigation, personal injury, criminal defense, work place injuries, and estate and trust litigation. Kasey was elected President of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers for 2020-2021, where she spends her time dedicated to promoting and upholding South Dakota’s jury system to ensure that anyone who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of another can obtain justice, even when taking on powerful opponents.

Kasey has lived her life as an advocate. She spent time in the foster care system before being legally emancipated and moving out on her own while still a senior in high school. Kasey worked hard, graduated with honors and was admitted to Augustana University.

After spending time as an intern for Senator Tim Johnson in Washington, D.C., Kasey found her passion to help others. She received dual bachelor’s degrees from the Minnesota State University, Mankato, before being admitted to the University of South Dakota, School of Law.

Since graduating from law school, Kasey has dedicated a large portion of her career to helping children in the abuse and neglect system and giving back to the community.

Ashley Miles Holtz

Ashley grew up in Harrisburg, South Dakota, where she always had dreams of being an advocate. Her passion led her to the University of South Dakota where she received a degree in criminal justice. Her next steps immediately took her to the doors of the University of South Dakota School of Law.

After receiving her law degree, Ashley began her career by representing people accused of crimes. She became a successful criminal defense lawyer because she through her heart and soul into each case without expecting anything in return. After honing her skills in criminal defense, Ashley dove into civil litigation where she has successfully represented clients in the most complex civil cases against the toughest opponents. Her intuition and honesty are the main ingredients to her uniqueness which has made her a successful advocate in all areas of law.

Tracy Miller

Associate Attorney

Tracy’s approachable, genuine demeanor and inquisitive nature are a combination for success in advocacy.  Tracy has always believed that with a little creative thinking and relentless perseverance, anything is possible.   She has applied those principles throughout her entire life and has overcome many obstacles as a result.  That same perseverance, hard-work, and creative thinking is what makes Tracy such a unique advocate for her clients.

You will always find Tracy with a smile on her face, which is as genuine as her desire to help others.  The obstacles Tracy has overcome in her life lend a type of first-hand knowledge and compassion that are rare to find in an attorney.  Tracy approaches everything with an open mind and understands that trust is the foundation of a relationship.  Her genuineness and open mind are what make clients comfortable trusting Tracy with their personal legal matters.

Tracy has an uncanny ability to remain calm under pressure and carries that calm demeanor with her into the courtroom.  Her calm demeanor combined with her attention to detail make her a strong advocate in both criminal and civil litigation.

Tracy has always been the type of person to help others, even when she has nothing to give.  She always gives more than what is expected of her and as an attorney, that still rings true as she will give everything she has to advocate on your behalf.


Tracy grew up in Canton, South Dakota, by parents who raised her to be a compassionate, hard-working, resilient individual.  That never-give-up attitude helped Tracy obtain her bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University in Sociology and Criminal Justice while also simultaneously raising her daughter Allegra and working two separate jobs.  Despite the challenges of juggling education, raising a family, and working multiple jobs, Tracy did not stop there.

Her love of education and desire to help others then led her to the doors of the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law where she finished at the top of her class in 2019. During law school, Tracy worked as a graduate assistant and was chosen to represent USD as a law school ambassador.  She served as the USD Moot Court Board Vice President, where she competed in oral advocacy competitions nation-wide. Tracy also served as an active member of the trial team honing and polishing her trial skills at national trial advocacy competitions. She spent extensive time researching, drafting briefs, and presenting oral arguments to attorneys and judges at the University of San Diego School of Law, University of North Carolina School of Law, and Elon University School of Law.

Following her graduation at USD Knudson School of Law, Tracy received the high honor of clerking for the Second Judicial Circuit Judges for one year.  During her time as a law clerk, she gained invaluable insight as she conducted research and wrote for the judges on a wide array of issues in both criminal and civil litigation. Tracy practice now encompasses a wide array of civil and criminal litigation.
